Within the woods there were near silent footsteps, pressing ever so lightly against the soft soil and mismatched foliage. Four large toes spread, capturing the pressure, and then released to take another step. These steps were covered by shadows, a blackness that night-dwellers are found of, but usually only witness when the moon comes out to dance with the stars.
After a few steps shattered sunlight hits charcoal colored fur, and strands of grays and creamy hues. Coming to a halt, he flickered his ears, surveying the area for sounds. Nothing, at least not yet. His bright green eyes cast their gaze over into the darkness, where the grass grew taller, then back to the empty spaces between the massive trees.
"Mam..." he uttered, "Where are you, sister?".
((OOC: Something simple, but gets it going, yes? :3))

It was up there, chattering safely from the canopy. She knew it, she had seen it scurry up there. But she could not access those canopy branches, having not the claws or size to do so. She stood with her paws against the scraping bark, looking anxiously for the squirrel that was now absent from her sight. As the mid-day light trickled through the filter of oak leaves, it caught her eyes and forced her to turn away.
The calling of her name caught her attention, and she no longer had interest in the squirrel that should have been her supper. Her ears were up, tail wagging, scanning about for the voice of her brother. She wined as he approached, dropping her heavy head and flattening her ears.
"I'm here." She whimpered. "I saw a squirrel. But it is up there." She rubbed up against his shoulder affectionately, keeping as low to the ground as she could. Her cold black nose pressed against his cheek. "I'm hungry, very much."

His lips pulled back with a smile as his Mammut rubbed against him. While his tail was raised to express dominance, it began to wag a little, increasing speed at each stroke. Nacht let out a hushed groan as he nibbled the back of her shoulders, eating at a few pests (such as fleas, or ticks) that were perched on his sister's back.
"I know you are sister." he said with a calming tone, " I am too. My belly has been scratching at my insides the past few days." He lifted his teeth away from her back, resting his chin slightly over her scruff, "How about we look for something besides squirrels?"
