Name - Magellan Nickname - None in particular Age - 5 Gender - Stag Pelt - His coat is an all over russet-red, bright in the sunlight and bland in the shadows, the sort of coat that blends better with darkness than sun. Markings - He has no distinguishing markings at all. Antlers - With five points, going on six, his antlers are massively impressive and are enough to scare anyone away, even before they get to seeing his general build. Mate - None Fawns - None Herd- Loner Rank- Loner Magic- The ability to make small waves of water Physical Build- Muscular and stocky, Magellan has a body meant for brute force and strength, but not for speed or agility. Physical Size - 225 cm/ 432 lb Eyes - His eyes are a bright and warm chesnut. Suggested Species - Red Deer Other- None Personality - To call Magellan eccentric would be a serious under-estimation: crazy might not even cover it. He is something of an enigma, completely the opposite of whatever impression his huge size gives out. From the outside he is noble, but from the moment he starts to talk, he is a few leaves short of a lawn.
Though thoughtfull, the matter of his mind is not commendable, nor is the manner of his thinking. Magellan is forgetful, a little bit clumsy, and very narrow minded, generally refusing to accept the beliefs of others if they contradict his own. An onlooker could think that Magellan was just sweet and horribly mis-understood, but he is nothing close.
Magellan is painfully aware of his own actions, which means that even if you really wanted to believe that something he did was an accident, you'd know that it would never be true. Magellan just does not have 'accidents'-- he is overly concious of everything. Forgiveness is not a term in his vocabulary, and in the way that he refuses to forgive others, he also does not expect forgiveness from anyone.
Heavily reliant on keeping up a reputation to protect himself, Magellan is strong but certainly not well taught in the ways of fighting. His rules are generally that if it's pointy, you gotta stick it somewhere: he tends to flail his head about wildly and has been called 'the impaler' on more than one occasion, for the signature way that he will jab at a soft spot and impale his enemy until they just.. die. He does have emotions, but death is not something that he fully understands, and so he does not fear it.
Wild and vibrant, Magellan has the sort of word vomit where he will just say whatever is on his mind. He is not secretive in the slightest-- he just doesn't know how to be mysterious, and if you ask him a straight out question, he will reel off the answer without a thought. This is his single reliability: he will never lie to you. But contrastingly, he will never keep your secrets, and he will never be trustworthy.
So, to summarise: Eccentric, narrow minded, intelligent, and aware.
History - Magellan can not remember a time in his life when he has not been a little bit off his rocker. Some say that he ran into a tree when he was very young, and some say that perhaps he was knocked out by a falling acorn one autumn, but neither of these assumptions are true.
Baby Mags was born to a doe who had fallen pregnant by a lone stag. This was an unacceptable thing in her herd, a herd of partiarchal bucks, especially since she had an allocated mate for that year as it was. She was given two choices: to be killed herself and have the fawn live, or to have the fawn killed.
She chose to kill the fawn. Magellan's herd was not a herd of kind deer.
A few days after his birth, his mother led him to a wide clearing, and then told him to wait while she fetched some berries. But neither mother nor berries returned, and in their place came four large stags, who kicked the young fawn until it appeared dead. Then, they carried it to the edge of the territory and left it there.
But the fawn was a fighter. And Magellan still is.
He was found by a Captain from a nearby herd-- one that did not approve of the ways of the secretive herd that Magellan came from. He sneered at the fawn as it lay there, hurt and fading away, but his heart was so large that he could not leave it to die. He shed his vendetta with the other herd and rushed the fawn home, where it was taken care of collectively by the does. And it survived.
But not without cost. Magellan suffered major brain damage, and even now his left back leg will buckle and cause him to fall if he runs too far or too fast. The areas of his brain that controlled endoprhins (happiness) and memory were ruined and damaged, and though the herd taught him as best they could, Magellan never seemed to retain real information. His short term memory can still fail, and he can forget very mundane things, particularly names. Slowly these problems formulated over the years, and made him the buck he is today. He became such a handful (and so very large) that his adoptive herd could not handle him anymore, and they sent him off to discover a new home.
And Magellan did just that! Aged three-going-on-four, he went a-travelling, though with his limited brain capacity it was a wonder he survived. Slowly his memory improved, mostly because his long term memory was still working hard to keep his brain going in the right direction, and as things that had once been new information became old, he managed to remember them. This is how Magellan is still able to understand the world around him, and know which berries are edible and which aren't-- life tactics like that. Weaknesses - His brain gives out easily, he is hard at remembering things such as names, certain locations, and probably could get easily lost. His back leg may cause him to stagger. Strengths - This stag is not known for many strengths, but many weaknesses. The only thing that could come to mind is his abnormally large antlers.
